Not happy with playing 2nd fiddle to the royals or a popular death, The Premier League had more moments of controversy than your average El Clasico this weekend. So much so that Fergie might need admitting into the same padded cell as The Special One. With a title decider now coming up on Sunday, here's what he had to say about the weekend's events: "We're not going to get the decisions in these big games I'm afraid". Laugh? I nearly fell out of my chair! A conspiracy against Utd!? Of course Chelsea were lucky and need to thank a linesman who, as Harry Redknapp correctly stated, "just took a guess" And yes Kalou was half a yard offside for the winner - Just as a hundred players are throughout the season. And maybe it was a foul on Owen too.
But Fergie's paranoia seems to be combined with Alzheimer's as he has conveniently overlooked Vidic's fingertip dive that warranted a red card and penalty at the Emirates (that would have kept him out of the Chelsea game), the same player somehow staying on the pitch at West Ham, Gary Neville managing the same feat at Stoke, that blatant Champions league penalty that Chelsea never got and countless more. The fact is these decisions do have a habit of evening themselves out (though there is no doubt the bigger teams get more!) so it's time all Premiership managers, and not just Fergie, just accept that fact and get on with it. I thought Harry did so with a fair amount of dignity this weekend - and it was nice to see Ancelotti admit he got lucky too.
Ironic that the top two in our table should be a United fan pursued by a Chelsea fan. Lee Honeywood still leads, but Declan Shortiss, who was leader for the first half of the season, is coming back and is only 16 pts behind. 5 pts further adrift is another Utd fan, Marie Stone, after a cracking score of 237, whilst Paul Worsley (Bolton) is also back in contention. Well done to £50 winner Nick Moorhouse who top scored with 240 this week. Atb, Ciro
