91 minutes
gone at the Etihad and a headline for this blog was forming in my mind.
"Blue Moan", "Blue it" or even "City City Bang
Bang" as they self destructed at the last hurdle. But it's
typical of this amazing season that none were needed. Call it fate if you
like, but as I said a couple weeks ago, it may come down to a Michael Thomas
moment, and so it did. Cruel for United fans (stop
sniggering!), but ironically if anyone can appreciate the
ecstasy involved with a miracle comeback of that sort, it's them and I'm
sure Fergie will be happy for Mancini deep inside (I said stop
sniggering!). Hats off to QPR (though not the usual
suspect - surely the cretin is due to miss August and September next season)
for making it so tough, and I'm sure they were partying with the City players
after.
So Bolton
relinquish they place in the Prem, whilst Arsenal and Spurs go into the
Champions League...for now. This season is so odd that Chelsea are
effectively playing 39 games, and could break Spurs hearts next week
(that's a win win game for the rest of us then!). Manager of
the season? Alan Pardew and Paul Lambert have been amazing, but
It has to Brendan Rogers for me.
We knew we
were in for an equally close finish in Prem Predictions, and as each goal was
scored the top 5 kept changing. Our leader going into the last
week, Kevin, was the biggest loser on day, slipping to 4th (£140
prize), but Rob Lawlor held his nerve and jumped from 3rd to 1st to claim top
spot and £500 - the first time he has led all season. Great timing
Rob! His secret? To back Norwich to beat Villa when the 2
above him didn't! Chris Franklin held onto 2nd (£250), Scott
Livingstone went up to 3rd (£180) and Richard Ward was only 56 pts off the
winner in 5th (£80). Brian York (£60), Nick Scraggs (£50) &
Michael Park (£40) made up the money paying positions
Meanwhile,
Andy Folwell became our 38th different weekly winner of the season, the first
time that has ever happened, with a stonking score of 251. Andy must be a lucky
name as 6 of them have won this year (or could it just be a popular name?)
I shall be
contacting everyone who has won prize money in due course! This includes all the weekly
winners, minileague winners (both listed below), and all 10 players in the
Tottendeen minileague, who held off Smiths and Seymour by 31 pts, to be the
best performing minileage of the season. Each of them wins £20, so well done
guys! Atb, and many thanks for playing to all of you - Hope you enjoyed
it, Ciro
THIS
