Last week I
said I could not recall a more incredible week in football - I was
wrong. This has got to be the best Prem season of all time! (even
without the Hammers!). Not only does El Torres score a hat-trick, but his
Liverpool replacement scores probably the best hat-trick the Prem has ever
seen including a stunning goal, followed a few days later by arguably the best
brace you will ever see anywhere as Pappi Cisse ends Chelsea's Champions
League aspirations..at least by the usual route. I've never seen
anyone swerve a ball so much since I scored a similar effort for Charters
School back in the 80's (though mine might have had something to do with
an 80mph gale that day). Did Cisse mean it to go there or was it
just speculative? This leads me nicely onto our new poll - what do you guys
think?
Wigan confirm
they are a class act and even Wolves scored 4! Then came the
appointment of Uncle Roy Hodgson, which may have upset The Sun, but which
seems to have been met with approval by fans of decent principals and
honestly - Good Luck Roy! Am I missing something out here?
Hang on, there was also the small matter of the biggest Manc Derby of
all time, which has given us the closest Title race finale in years..Could
we be set for another "Michael Thomas Moment"?. (if any of you
youngsters don't know who he is - youtube him!). How are City going
to cope with Cisse? And Ba? And Cabaye?!
In our
Predictions league, the scores were all over the place with 14 games
played. Alan Blair won week 36, whilst Kevin Ellis goes back to the top
of the table, but Rob Lawlor's decent score means it is now a 5 horse race
with 2 weeks to go - and just 59 pts separating those 5 - also the closest
finish we've probably ever had here in terms of how many can still win
it. Oh, and one last thing, hard luck again to Dec who was
Predictions Cup Runner Up for the 2nd year running - quite an impossible
feat! But well done to Chris Dane who took the trophy with a
+8 to -36 win in the final! Atb, Ciro
ps - As I've
said before, I'm always happy to feature pix of you predictors, and here is one
of young Brandon Trainis, leading out the Spurs team with Ledley King, when he
was mascot at their recent QPR game...good work Brandon!
